Charity run Chelmsford, 22nd June

Once again we raised a team to take part in the annual "Race for Business" charity run in Chelmsford, which this year took place on the 22nd June. The race, which is supported by local businesses and organized by Birketts solicitors, is run over a 5k course through Chelmsford town centre and around two local parks. The celebrity starter and prize giver this year was former Essex and England cricket captain Graham Gooch. There were over 1500 entrants and the race is expected to raise nearly £30,000 for this year's nominated charity, Little Haven Children's Hospice.

The intrepid Liability Network team, from left to right, was Lee Whiddett, Tim Walker, Tracey Birt and Richard Little.

Fitness levels were not sufficient to challenge for the team or individual prizes but Tim finished in a very creditable 120th place in a time of 23.10 minutes. Lee and Richard had a hard fought battle against each other throughout the race, Lee crossing the finishing line in 549th place in a time of 29.03 minutes, just ahead of Richard in 555th place with a time of 29.07 minutes. Tracey brought up the rear in 921st place with a time of 29.07 minutes.

The fastest recorded male and female times were respectively 17.14 minutes and 22.06 minutes. The last recorded finisher was in 1378th place and recorded a time of 1 hour 10.26 minutes.

Training for next year's race will be under way shortly!
